Emirates Green Building: Pioneering Sustainability in the UAE

Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) is a non-governmental organization in the forefront of promoting and educating on sustainability in the built environment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the wider region. As the UAE's official Green Building Council, authorized by the World Green Building Council, it plays a critical role in furthering green building principles and supporting sustainability. With about 150 members representing a diverse range of persons involved in green building, including Ms. Maya Haddad, Sustainability Manager at Ajman University, EmiratesGBC provides a forum for cooperation, information sharing, and advancement in this critical sector. Members get a variety of perks, including savings on educational programs, training, and green building events. Since its inception in 2006, EmiratesGBC has seen considerable changes in the sustainable built environment sector, impacted by the introduction of green building guidelines and rating systems, as well as an increase in information exchange. Its vision and objectives have changed to suit the changing context, with the goal of making the UAE a global leader in sustainable built environments. Communication, advocacy, collaboration, education, innovation, and acceleration are among its strategic objectives, with the ultimate goal of supporting a decarbonized, healthy environment and assuring the organization's continuous development and stability.
